Electronic Arts has announced that The Battle for Jakku, a free downloadable content pack for Star Wars: Battlefront, will be available 1 December 2015 for players who preordered the game, and a week later on the 8th for those who didn’t. The DLC adds a new game mode, Turning Point, and two new maps.
The Turning Point, according to the official site is a 40 man contest where the Rebels spawn in and try to locate three control points held by the Imperials. The mission has a countdown timer for an Imperial victory, but if the Rebels succeed in capturing a point, time is added to the clock and more control points are added for capture. The final point si the Empire’s base.
The two new maps are “Graveyard of Giants”, where the wreckage of Super Star Destroyers and other ships can be found, while “Goazan Badlands” is an inhospitable rocky area. Both maps take place during the Battle for Endor, and represent a tie-in to the upcoming The Force Awakens coming out in theaters in December.
Star Wars: Battlefront was released last week, and GameWatcher’s review is in the pipe. Keep an eye out for it.
