With Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III coming next year - and still being a mouthful - Sega and Relic Entertainment are starting to trickle information out pertaining to new and returning units heading into the final build.
Starting things off with the Wraithlord, this sleek looking construct is the larger version of the Wraithblade. Commandeered by the strongest of the lifeless Eldar housed within a spirit stone, its slim form-factor doesn't stop it from being a powerful melee weapon against both infantry and vehicular obstacles.
Though it isn't difficult to come across a Wraithlord, finding those able to pilot the entity proves more of a challenge. Though they'd usually lose their soul to the Warp in defeat, taking over as a Wraithlord allows an Eldar hero to press on with their goals long after their death.
So when taking the Wraithlord into battle, what can you expect? With a powerful sword at its disposal, a quick 'Q' press activates 'Glaive Charge' propelling the construct forward, knocking away those caught in the path before sweeping the rest away with an arc swing at the end of the line. There's even the Ethereal Wall ability allowing the Wraithlord to block enemy fire. Allies and given a speed boost on contact, while enemies earn the opposite.
There's still no solid release date in mind when it comes to Sega's much-anticipated RTS sequel other than a vague 2017 placeholder. Whether it'll be early or later in the year is unknown, but we can only hope it'll be the former.
