We reported earlier this year that Leslie Benzies, formerly the head of Rockstar North, had left the company following a year-long ”sabbatical.”
While the house that built Grand Theft Auto tried to paint the split as amicable, it seems that there’s some dispute, as Benzies is suing Take-Two Interactive for over $150 million in unpaid royalties. According to a statement Polygon received from his lawyers, Benzies attempted to return to work in April of 2015, only to find his key had been deactivated and to be escorted out of the building shortly after.
For their part, Rockstar and Take-Two have counter-sued, alleging that Benzies was in breach of contract, that he left the company without ”Good Reason,” and that as a result was not entitled to the pre- and post-termination royalties that are part of Take-Two’s compensation.
