It seems that some folks are having problems with Dark Souls III’s PC version, mostly centering on a crash involving the game’s ubiquitous bonfires.
The crash is preventing players from progressing past even the opening bonfire, which is certainly a problem! Thankfully, it seems that hopping into the graphics settings and setting Lighting Quality to LOW is working for many people, according to Shacknews. Of course, you’ll also want to turn off the Auto Adjust Graphics setting.
As I mentioned in my glowing review of Dark Souls III, I ran into no technical issues whatsoever on either of the two PCs I tested it on. Other reviewers were not so lucky. Hopefully From Software can isolate the issue and ensure that all players have a stable experience with a patch soon.
