Dontnod is the French studio behind the sci-fi memory adventure, Remember Me, and the slice-of-life-plus-time-travel story of Life Is Strange. Their latest title, Vampyr, is a roleplaying game set in Gothic London, and a heaping helping of gameplay footage just made it our way out of Gamescom.
The footage below comes courtesy of Youtube channel punish, and shows off 15 minutes of what to expect from the upcoming title. The video is from a pre-alpha build of the game, but still looks quite good, with well-animated characters holding conversations in Mass Effect-style dialog sequences.
Combat is action-oriented, letting you take down opponents with a variety of melee strikes and ranged weaponry. You can also finish off the opposition with a blood-sucking maneuver or a bit of impaling courtesy of some dark magic. You can also stalk the townsfolk, watching their blood quality and stalking them through the night as you quench your vampiric thirst.
It’s some solid-looking footage, and definitely has the potential to make for a compelling action-RPG. Vampyr is scheduled to release in 2017.
