In a month where Planet Coaster got yet another update, to the point where just about every game under the sun decided to celebrate the holidays in one way or another, players of Starpoint Gemini Warlords sit around awaiting their turn. They're not getting one.
It isn't all doom and gloom for the players, however, as the developers took to Steam yesterday to announce exactly why they've broken their streak of monthly updates this time around. And on Christmas, too! Shameful.
Assuring fans they're working on 'some major features' while even admitting "the current development version, in all honesty, is a complete mess", they're focusing their time on bringing the biggest update of the game's Early Access history next time around.
Maybe you want to shoot something to take your mind off this matter. You can at least watch someone do it here.
Hoping you don't always want to be buddy-buddy with Korkyra, they'll finally be implementing a reputation system. Of course, it'll work with any faction you find out in the deep virtues of space. Controller support will start to be implemented with the popular Xbox One controller coming first, with Steam's native support of its own - and the Dualshock 4 - coming soon after. Fast travel will become a thing, while having a R&D department placed on your HQ will actually serve a purpose. There's even the massive undertaking of fleet management being worked on. They're blaming that as the main reason December will come and go without any updates.
Of course, there's a lot more detail to these finer point on the game's official Steam announcement. Take a look at that before you go hurling abuse at the developers. They're betting on a "end of January" release this time around.
