If you're looking to scare yourself silly in more than a single room on one machine when Resident Evil 7 launches in January, rest assured that's an absolute possibility as Capcom's upcoming survival horror title will support cross-save between Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
Though details were initially scarce as to how this feature would work, Capcom has since confirmed that Resident Evil 7 would only gain this feature when purchased through the Windows 10 store; meaning we could be looking at the first third-party game to support Microsoft's 'Play Anywhere' program like Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3 did before.
Giving a little more reason to pick up the title from a rival store, those with an Xbox One would gain access to both the console and PC versions of the title when purchasing it digitally through either the Windows 10 store or Xbox Live Marketplace. Meaning you could essentially walk between the rooms of your house while navigating the spooky cabin of the game itself - for whatever reason.
Unlike the Playstation 4 version, the PC version of Resident Evil 7 won't include VR support - but you could lightely emulate it yourself.
Also revealed through IGN's translation of the original Dengeki article, the title will also support HDR and true 4K resolution support for those aiming to have the truest-looking Baker-house romp imaginable.
There's still a Steam version up for pre-order, though; so we're not being locked into supporting Microsoft's solo venture like the early release of Quantum Break or Gears of War 4. It just won't support any form of cross-save or give you access to the Xbox One version.
