A specific cause for the Anno 1800 DirectX error hasn’t yet been identified, however, support forum threads link it to a number of things, including repeated attempts at starting a new game session after playing for a long time, as well as Nvidia and Intel hardware.
While there doesn’t seem to be a fix for the Anno 1800 DirectX error at the moment, it’s safe to say that Ubisoft are aware of it, making it plausible that a fix for it will come in a later update.
