The holidays are almost upon us and, if you plan on spending at least some of your break delving into some of the most recent 4X strategy games, you may want to grab Civilization 7’s Tides of Power Collection, which is currently free to claim on all platforms until January 5 for anyone who owns or purchases the base game.
Civilization 7’s Tides of Power Collection is a post-launch DLC that introduces two new playable leaders – Edward Teach and Sayyida al Hurra –, alongside four new civilizations – Republic of Pirates, Tonga, Ottomans, and Iceland – and four new wonders – the Great Lighthouse, Nan Madol, Great Blue Hole, and Mapu’a Vaea Blowholes.
Civilization 7 Tides of Power Collection Free to Claim on All Storefronts
Edward Teach left his mark on history as a famed pirate, and he joins Civ 7’s roster of playable leaders as one with the militaristic and economic attributes.
He can appropriately grant all his naval units the Pirate ability, which allows them not just to cross the borders of other civilizations, but also plunder trade routes belonging to non-allied civilizations and attack their naval units without first declaring war. Sinking other vessels also provides gold, but his ships do require more coin to maintain.
Sayyida al Hurra, Morocco’s champion, favors the diplomatic and militaristic attributes. Her unique ability, Hakima Tatwan, grants a naval unit every time she completes an espionage action.
In addition, naval units stationed on districts provide increased culture and influence per age. She also avoids influence penalties when her espionage is revealed and blocks opponents from counter-spying against her.
The four included civilizations and wonders add more strategic options for new playthroughs, and it’s hard to complain about getting shiny new toys at no cost.
You can grab Civilization 7’s Tides of Power Collection while it’s free to claim from Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, Nintendo’s e-Shop, and the PlayStation Store.
For even more freebies during the holidays, the Epic Games Store is yet again back with daily giveaways.
