Though it’s been a while since we last reported on dark comedy strategy game Ghost Keeper, development is still ongoing and a new demo has hit the Steam Scream Fest.
Developer Quest Craft and publisher Gaming Factory have set its PC release for late 2025, but we still don’t have a more specific window to look forward to. Regardless, the new demo is seemingly including a good amount of new features. Here’s the quick rundown of the most important ones:
• 3 stunning locations: William’s House, Phineas’ Manor, Cemetery
• 3 ghosts (William, Night Blade, Phineas) and 1 beast (Shadowmaw) just waiting for your commands
• Hideout access: basic upgrade paths for your monsters between missions
• Extended core loop: summon your monsters, use new skills, balance Essence points, and experiment with early-game tactics
There’s also a new trailer for players to watch before deciding to jump into (or skip) the new demo:
With most Steam demos following the ‘thin slices of the full experiences’ model, it appears Ghost Keeper’s latest one feels very close to what the complete game will offer, giving potential players a good taste of its human-scaring tactics and the 19th-century English locales your evildoers will try to control.
While we’re seeing strategy games and management sims of all kinds launch as of late, few are returning to the specific subgenre of controlling evil minions and sending them against humans who mess with dark things they don’t understand. With Halloween almost here, Ghost Keeper’s demo feels like a perfect way to invert the traditional horror roles for once and become the one that’s scary and evil.
