Due to the fact that Valve's Early Access programme has spawned a considerable number of straight-up incomplete and awful video games, it is fairly understandable that most have gotten jaded by the prospect of a game getting its release that way. Dead Cells, however, is looking to be one of the crown jewels that does, in fact, get a right and proper release, and it is coming on 7th of August, this year!
Dead Cells is a sidescrolling rogue-lite where players take on a randomly-generated castle filled with traps, enemies, bosses and a whole load of items to push their way to the end-boss, collecting titular "cells" along the way.
During its stint in Early Access, Dead Cells has collected a veritable wealth of positive reviews and comments, be it due to great hit feedback, a solid difficulty curve, an abundance of content, lovely visuals or some other such feature of the game. Additionally, the developers - Motion Twin - have managed to not only fulfil the majority of their release quotas, but also to keep in touch with the community, taking feedback to heart.
Developers have also already announced large batches of content being released after the game is out, alongside the usual fix-and-update treatment that all games get these days.
If you're intent on purchasing the game on PC, but are also interested in having a physical copy, you're in luck, because one will in fact be available, though in limited numbers. This can be pre-ordered here for €35.00. The digital edition can already be purchased normally via Steam for €24,99.
