Deathloop developer Arkane Studios is aware of the stuttering issues that PC players have been consistently reporting since the launch of its latest title and has made investigating them its priority.
Although the critical consensus paints Deathloop as one of the year’s most accomplished releases, the title currently sits at a Mixed rating on Steam, with only 64% positive reviews. Many of the negative ones (and even some coming from PC players who deem the game worth playing) point towards stutters, often naming the inclusion of Denuvo anti-tamper software as the culprit.
“Hey all, I’m one of the DEATHLOOP Community Managers, and while those burgers do look great, regarding performance we are aware of reports that some PC users are experiencing stuttering issues in DEATHLOOP,” Community Manager MortalEmperor replied to a Reddit thread jokingly pointing to the game’s detailed hamburgers as the cause of the stuttering issues.
“We’re actively investigating the issue right now as a priority, and will update you with more specific information as soon as possible.”
It’s currently unclear whether or not Denuvo is actually the culprit, but some PC users have had luck reducing or removing Deathloop’s stuttering issues by limiting their frame rate, often from their video card’s software.
Reddit user num1d1um points out that it might be a game engine issue, since something similar has been reported to happen with previous Arkane Games like Dishonored 2. Hopefully, it won’t take too long for the devs to release a fix.
Deathloop is available now on PC and PS5.
