Vegetables usually are chill little guys, providing healthy, nutritious, and sometimes dubiously-tasting meals, but in indie deckbuilding roguelike Vegangsters they leave behind this peaceful life, embracing crime and mischief.
As Tubercle City’s three districts deal with an influx of criminal vegetables, it’s up to us to guide lone potato inspector Patt in his efforts to make the streets safe once again. Vegangsters infuses its turn-based battles with real-time mechanics while giving us a set of more than 100 unique cards to unlock and put to good use.
Vegangsters Deckbuilding Roguelite
Whether obtained by winning battles or purchased from Jenny’s Shop, discovering new synergies is only one part of the puzzle. Card speed plays a pivotal role in Vegangsters’ combat, allowing Patt to gain the upper hand against the criminals he encounters.
Aside from his inspector persona, the protagonist can also channel his inner detective, tapping into a whole new playstyle. In addition, a series of unlockable gadgets “enhance your deck and unlock new tactical possibilities.”
Set in Tubercle City, Vegangsters has us exploring three districts and interacting with “up to” 30 unique characters. Good old-fashioned interrogation also plays into Patt’s efforts, as random events force him to make choices that alter how others perceive him.
Although its environments might land on the simpler side of things, both the card art and characters hide plenty of personality.
Regardless if you’re a deckbuilding roguelike enthusiast or want to punch some digital vegetables while collecting pretty cards, you can pick up Vegangsters on June 18, when it launches on PC, via Steam. Don’t forget to wishlist.
