Diablo 4 Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim Release Date - Start and End Dates Detailed.
Sanctuary remains overrun with demons as the Season 9 release date for Diablo 4 draws near. Dubbed Sins of the Horadrim, this season promises a fresh challenge, requiring players to once again battle Hell’s minions while pursuing ever more powerful loot. Alongside its start and end dates, the season will introduce temporary powers and permanent content additions that extend the gameplay experience even beyond the season itself.
If season 8 saw us absorbing the abilities of defeated bosses, Sins of the Horadrim introduces a new set of powers that change how we think about building our characters. Dungeons also receive some much-needed attention, hopefully refreshing this core pillar of the ARPG experience.
Diablo 4 Season 9 Start and End Dates
Although Blizzard has yet to discuss D4’s season 9 at length, its start date is expected to happen on June 30th at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST / 7pm CET / 3am AET. Sins of the Horadrim will end sometime in September, likely around the end of the month.
- Diablo 4 Season 9 start date: July 1, 2025
- Diablo 4 Season 9 end date: September 2025 (GameWatcher estimation)
Although Blizzard originally intended to aim for quarterly seasons, we have seen some delays in the past, so it’s possible that unexpected issues could cause these dates to shift. We’ll hear about that on the developer’s official showcase on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 7pm BST.
Diablo 4 Season 9 Content - Horadric Powers, Escalating Nightmares
Previously, a roadmap shared by the developer revealed that Horadric Powers count among the significant additions coming in Diablo 4’s Sins of the Horadrim Season, and, after patiently waiting, we now have the full list of additions.
Like its predecessors, D4’s Season 9 adds a new seasonal questline that guides us through its new content. This time around, we help Druid Bryona, found in Cerrigar, as she “must contend with decisions made by Donan—the Horadric Mage responsible for sealing away Astaroth upon his defeat—that now threaten to once again endanger her home and her people.”
The questline introduces Horadric Strongrooms as micro-dungeons found inside Nightmare Dungeons, a means to more easily find their locations, a new reputation track, as well as the ability to craft powerful Horadric Jewels.
The latter are unlocked at the Torment I difficulty level when Horadric Tomes drop in completed Strongrooms. These consumable items enable crafting the jewels at the Horadric Lapidary in Cerrigar.
The socketable jewels “grant a variety of alluring powers and effects, from empowering your Horadric Spell, making enemies explode with elemental damage, and more.”
Horadric Spells act as Diablo 4 Season 9’s customizable powers. Each spell is made up of three parts. Catalysts provide its base power, Infusions modify the type of elemental damage it deals, while Arcana add extra effects that allow us to more efficiently vanquish foes.
D4’s Sins of the Horadrim Season also brings with it Escalating Nightmares, an endgame activity that chains three Nightmare Dungeons.
As we progress through each them, affixes stack, increasing the challenge. Completing all three on any Torment difficulty tier allows us to take on an Exalted version of Astaroth, a boss we previously fought during the base campaign.
To access them, we need Escalation Sigils earned via the seasonal reputation track or from Horadric Strongrooms.
A new seasonal reliquary introduces a series of cosmetic rewards, while the refreshed seasonal journey gives us a variety of goals to pursue on the road to endgame.
Although several of these features will disappear once D4’s Season 9 ends, the following are confirmed as permanent across both the Eternal and Seasonal realms:
- Nightmare Dungeon Updates
- Horadric Strongrooms
- Escalating Nightmares
- New Nightmare Dungeon affixes
- Quality-of-Life: Mouse and Keyboard on Console
- New Uniques for each Class
New Nightmare Dungeon affixes, unique items, and a slew of class balance changes are also slated to go live when D4’s Sins of the Horadrim Season release date comes around.
This covers everything we know about Diablo 4’s Season 9, its start and end dates, and the content it introduces to the action-RPG.
