Europa Universalis 5 update 1.3 release date is “closer than you might expect,” as developer Paradox Tinto aims to capitalize on the momentum gained following the launch of the historical grand strategy game’s Fate of the Phoenix DLC to deliver new content and fixes.
Titled Pavia, EU5’s update 1.3 marks the second stop on its rather promising 2026 roadmap and, like with the title’s first free major update, it will first be available in open beta, inviting any interested players to test its planned changes and provide feedback.
Europa Universalis 5 Pavia Update 1.3 Release Date
Europa Universalis 5’s patch 1.3 is currently slated to enter open beta before the end of May 2026, as confirmed by developer Paradox Tinto on Steam.
- Europa Universalis 5 update 1.3 open beta release date: Late May 2026
- Europa Universalis 5 update 1.3 release date: June/July 2026 (GameWatcher estimation)
“Our target is to take that feedback, iterate, and bring 1.3 to a full release within four to six weeks of the beta opening,” the developer added.
EU5’s Pavia update 1.3 will bring “a lot of content, quality of life and game mechanics,” but the team behind the sprawling strategy game is also looking into “memory leaks, rendering performance and the late-game performance,” all of which can hamper the fun as playthroughs progress.
Looking at the 2026 roadmap linked above, the patch should also rework great powers, improve automation, bring additional flavor for Italy, a creditworthiness system, while also touching works of art and chivalric orders.
The scope of each update can, however, change, and we’ll have to wait for its official launch to see what makes it in.
Whether you’ve returned for Fate of the Phoenix or are still waiting on the sidelines, Europa Universalis V’s update 1.3 aims to make its lengthy journey through history much more interesting.
