Frost Giant Studios today announced that it is partnering with Mike Morhaime’s Dreamhaven for its upcoming real-time strategy game.
The studio has also revealed that its RTS will take advantage of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, which recently launched in Early Access, and its rather impressive features.
Dreamhaven will advise developer Frost Giant Studios as it continues to work on its debut title. The company was founded with the goal of building “a home where creators are empowered and inspired to build unique experiences that bring players together in positive ways.”
Frost Giant Studios’ goal is to “build the next great RTS,” and do so while tapping into what makes the genre great but without drastically reinventing it.
“One of the biggest challenges and exciting aspects of building a new IP is really being able to define your setting, the universe that players are going to explore, finding the creative home for your game, and this is something that I’m pleased to report that we’ve made some great headway on,” Game Director Tim Campbell said.
“We’ve worked for months now with some really experienced, talented writers. We’ve churned through dozens and dozens of ideas for different types of settings that are wildly diverse and I’m really pleased to say that we’ve selected one that I think you’re going to be really, really excited about.”
The project was born out of a desire to give real-time strategy the attention it’s currently missing. Fans are, undoubtedly, hoping that this pairing of devs from Blizzard’s old guard will hopefully translate into something great further down the line.
