Publisher and developer Mechanistry today announced, via a new trailer, that lumberpunk city builder Timberborn has locked down its 1.0 update release date to March 5, 2026.
After spending a bit over four years in early access, during which time it received seven major updates and sold more than a million copies, Timberborn’s full version is almost ready to welcome more crafty beaver enthusiasts into the fold.
Timberborn 1.0 Update Release Date Slated for March
Available on a separate experimental branch at the time of writing, Timberborn’s 1.0 update brings us a new map called Spillage, improvements to the tutorial in-game text, lower in-game brightness for its refreshed visuals, the ability to zoom out further, alongside “a ton of other happy little tweaks.”
The trailer announcing Timberborn’s 1.0 update release date sets the stage for the efforts of beaverkind, forced to use its ingenuity to restore the natural world that was decimated by the fires of industry.
The seven major updates that went live during the city builder’s stay in early access have turned it from a fledgling into one of the most celebrated projects in the genre. Here is a breakdown of what they introduced:
- Building out the two beaver factions into vastly different organizations, altering their paths of progress ( including different food production chains, buildings, and architecture)
- The introduction of 3D water physics, 3D terrain, and expanding vertical architecture
- Official mod and Steam Workshop support for all players
- The addition of badwater and badtides—a dangerous new season, like droughts
- The inclusion of end-game goals, AKA wonders, complementing the game’s sandbox loop.
- The addition of bots and broadening the available building roster across all categories, from workshops to decorations
- Addition of faction-specific mass transportation systems: speedy ziplines for the nature-loving Folktails and cutting-edge Tubeway tech for the industrious Iron Teeth
- Expansion from 7 to 16 built-in maps
Timberborn’s 1.0 update release date is set for March 5, 2026, when the game’s full version becomes available on PC.
