Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 was announced last year out of nowhere, instantly becoming one of our most anticipated RTS releases of 2026. Relic Entertainment isn’t back, but KING Art has proven itself in the past, so we’re optimistic and ready for our return to Kronus. This is what we know about Dawn of War 4 so far.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 Release Date
Publisher Deep Silver and developer KING Art have yet to establish a release date for Dawn of War 4, but we do know it’s currently set to drop this year. Given the pace of the marketing push so far, we’re confident it’ll release before 2026 ends.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 Gameplay, Factions & Modes
The fourth entry in the WH40K: Dawn of War series aims to recover the traditional RTS angle of the original game and its expansions, with the base-building element making a return alongside squad-based units and powerful commanders in the style of the ones found in Relic’s sequels.
Following the criticisms of Dawn of War 3 and Relic straying away from the pure RTS formula that made the series special in the first place, it seems the main intent with this one is convincing veterans while onboarding newcomers with more streamlined moment-to-moment mechanics and pacing.
Four factions will be available at launch: Space Marines (with Blood Ravens and Dark Angels), Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus making their Dawn of War debut. As for single-player and multiplayer modes, you can expect solo and co-op support for its +70-mission story campaign, offline Skirmishes vs. AI, the return of Last Stand (horde survival), and 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 competitive multiplayer. The army painter tool is back too.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 Story
Dawn of War 4 continues the old Dark Crusade storyline in a way, as it’s set 200 years later but brings the Space Marines back to Kronus as the galaxy lies shattered. The Imperium of Man has been attempting to reclaim the scorched world, yet massive Ork armies and a new Necron threat are making things hard.
The Dark Angels and mighty WH40K figures like Lion El’Jonson will play huge roles in the story as well, and the Adeptus Mechanicus might be the game’s wildcard, as they seem to be toying with ancient forces they don’t fully understand.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 Price and Platforms
Since no release date or window has been set for WH40K: Dawn of War 4 yet, publisher Deep Silver hasn’t shared any details about the game’s potential pricing or editions.
However, we know for sure it’ll only target PC (via Steam) when it launches. Depending on its financial performance, we may or may not see console ports happening in the future.
