The wait is finally over, Warhammer 40,000 fans: Dawn of War IV is real and coming in 2026.
This time around, it’s KING Art (Iron Harvest) who’s handling development, with Deep Silver taking on the publishing side of things. Despite Games Workshop teaming up with Relic Entertainment again for Dawn of War - Definitive Edition, Dawn of War III was a divisive threequel, so this creative refresh doesn’t entirely come as a surprise.
Watch the first (CG and in-game) trailer below:
The scale seems far more restrained this time around, with only Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus showing up at launch. Asymmetrical factions with more traditional RTS building mechanics are guaranteed by the full description and the little gameplay we’ve seen though. Each faction will also have its own story campaign, supporting both solo and co-op. Black Library author John French is co-writing.
“The series returns to its roots with classic Dawn of War gameplay,” the Steam description also states, but it remains to be seen how close it actually sticks to the original Dawn of War’s formula vs. the more fast-paced sequels. Offline skirmishes as well as 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 online matches are confirmed. Of course, KING Art isn’t forgetting about the army painter tool.
We reached out to Relic Entertainment for comment, and received the following statement:
“The team at Relic is incredibly excited after seeing the announcement for Dawn of War IV from KING Art Games and Deep Silver. Warhammer 40,000 and the Dawn of War franchise are very near and dear to our hearts, and we know KING Art will be ardent stewards of this universe. As fans, we can’t wait to see what they have in store for players!”
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has been announced as a PC exclusive set to drop on Steam at some point next year.
