With only a few days to go until the official reveal of Path of Exile 2’s upcoming 0.5.0 update, titled Return of the Ancients, publisher and developer Grinding Gear Games has shared a new teaser trailer that promises to reveal more about one of the central figures behind its endgame Breach mechanic.
That’s not the only interesting element in it either, as a mysterious sword takes the spotlight towards the end of the short PoE2 Return of the Ancients teaser trailer, raising questions about whether or not a new weapon type might be on the way at the end of the month.
Path of Exile 2 0.5.0 Teaser Trailer Hints At More Breach Lore and One Mysterious Sword
The video debuts with a small gathering of individuals kneeling in front of a shrine to the Dreamer, an otherworldly Breachlord.
Path of Exile 2’s 0.5.0 teaser trailer mentions a looming threat that can be thwarted only by his awakening.
“[…] with his rebirth, our time has come,” the woman seemingly leading the group notes as the sword placed in front of a shrine dedicated to the Dreamer is imbued with purple energy.
Whether the figures involved in Path of Exile 2’s latest Return of the Ancients teaser trailer are on our side remains to be seen, but it signals that we will learn more about the Breachlord’s intentions when the league launches.
PoE2’s Breach endgame mechanic could also see changes, as part of broader efforts to significantly refresh the action-RPG’s endgame.
But perhaps the most interesting aspect of Path of Exile 2’s 0.5.0 teaser trailer is the inclusion of a sword. Developer Grinding Gear Games previously noted that the full launch cannot happen without the weapon type becoming playable.
Although its arrival in the next patch isn’t guaranteed, since it is believed to accompany the Duelist class, which hasn’t been teased so far, we can’t exclude a potential surprise reveal coming our way when the Return of the Ancients League launches.
Previously, a Delirium endgame mechanic rework was also hinted at. We’ll know for sure what we can expect from Path of Exile 2’s 0.5.0 update on May 7, when its official reveal is slated to happen.
