Path of Exile’s Legacy of Phrecia event is set to return in late January 2026, publisher and developer Grinding Gear Games has confirmed, giving us three weeks’ worth of experimenting with new ascendancies as we wait for the free-to-play action-RPG’s 3.28 update.
PoE’s returning Legacy of Phrecia event is set to start on January 29, 2026, ending on February 19. Its highlight feature comes in the shape of alternate ascendancies replacing those in the standard game, allowing us to tinker with fresh builds while chasing vast amounts of currency and epic loot.
Path of Exile’s Legacy of Phrecia Event Returns in January 2026
“Become a Servant of Arakaali and raise spiders to fight alongside you; use the powers of nature itself as the Daughter of Oshabi or just ascend into a Harbinger - this event manifests the wildest ideas of our design team into reality,” reads the post announcing the event.
You can check out the list of available alternate ascendancies, although the developer has confirmed some balance changes will go live with January 2026’s iteration of the Path of Exile’s Legacy of Phrecia event.
Furthermore, idols are also returning, boasting “a new set of modifiers for the Settlers League and Atlas Memories, but disabled modifiers for Breach.”
We’re also promised “a few extra twists,” including a random number of map modifiers being assigned to each area. They scale with area level, and GGG has “removed many modifiers from the pool that would brick builds, such as reflect.”
Lastly, campaign and some pinnacle bosses have new mechanics, while all unique monsters enrage while on low life.
The three weeks dedicated to Path of Exile’s Legacy of Phrecia event, until the second half of February, bring us close enough to the launch of 3.28 update, which is currently slated for early March.
