Phasmophobia is on the horizon for a console release. Originally intended to launch in tandem with the Progression 2.0 update, the release has been postponed to early 2024. A key question for players is whether crossplay will be available across the various new platforms once it arrives.
Developer Kinetic Games has confirmed that Phasmophobia will have cross-platform play in early 2024 on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PSVR 2. It’s expected to be available as soon as the console ports are launched.
Does Phasmophobia Support Crossplay Crossplay?
Phasmophobia players, regardless of whether they’re on PC, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, or VR, will have the ability to pair with others across these platforms. Consequently, when it comes to matchmaking and seeking fellow ghost hunters, no platform will be left out due to the open crossplay support.
Crossplay support was confirmed in a promotional trailer that Kinetic Games put out revealing the first details of the Progression update and news that it would be releasing on consoles. You can check this trailer out below.
If you’re the type who prefers to stick to your own gaming tribe, no worries! There will be an option to switch off crossplay in the settings menu.
As Progression 2.0 rolls out, all players can expect a level reset. But don’t worry, legacy players - your past hunts won’t go unnoticed. You’ll earn prestige levels that unlock some of your previously acquired equipment. Additionally, the update is set to bring about alterations to some of the equipment, like the D.O.T.S. Projector and Spirit Box, as well as seasonal events and an improved reward system.
Although Kinetic Games has not confirmed an exact release date, the trailer indicates that the revamped version is slated for an early 2024 release on consoles. When it does finally arrive, players can look forward to the addition of crossplay functionality.
