Pirate PvE survival game Windrose is on a clear plundering streak, having passed the 1 million copies sold milestone in just six days after launching into Steam Early Access.
This influx of new players has also led to a new Steam concurrent player count record, almost double of that established a few days ago.
Windrose Sells 1 Million Copies, Sets New Steam Concurrent Player Count Record
“We have just plundered another milestone – 1,000,000 copies, and ‘we’ means ‘you’ – a crew of fine brave captains sailing the seas of Windrose,” developer Kraken Express wrote on Steam. “Moreover, today Windrose has assembled over 200,000 concurrent players! Your support for the game is absolutely astonishing, and your patience while we are working on fixes is truly heart-warming.”
As per SteamDB, Windrose’s new concurrent player count record saw 222,134 sailing its treacherous seas in search of treasure and adventure.
While survival crafting games have an uncanny ability of attracting large crowds of players even while in early access, Kraken Express’ project also addresses an underserved audience by infusing the rather familiar formula with pirate elements.
Windrose is certainly off to a great start, and its developer is actively working on addressing its most pressing issues, including those related to connectivity and save games.
Its future very much depends not just on fixing these problems but also on delivering new content to keep players interested. You can keep track of the updates released so far in our dedicated article.
Windrose is available now on PC via Steam Early Access.
