Publisher and developer Joure Visser today announced that his upcoming horror game Deadcam is set to enter Steam Early Access in late June. Boasting a gritty 90s analog aesthetic while inspired by both classic Japanese and American horror/ slasher movies, the title structures its levels as self-contained found footage-style stories.
Deadcam launches into Steam Early Access with its first such story that promises “an atmospheric J-Horror challenge set in an abandoned school.” Four more will be added before the game’s full version launches.

Each recording has its own unique setting, narrative, and gameplay mechanics, tapping into a variety of genre flavors ranging from survival horror to psychological thriller.
“Across each file, retro UI elements monitor haunted activity in the area, including the size and speed of nearby enemy mobs,” the publisher explains in an emailed press release. “Idle opponents may walk or sprint to your location, forcing you to confront a handful–or a horde–of enemies.”
Since it has no shortage of horrifying foes, Deadcam also gives us tools with which to defend ourselves. We’ll be able to wield a variety of weapons, such as pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, katanas, and chainsaws.
Although powerful, they do come with trade-offs. Aiming ranged weapons reduces our movement speed while favoring melee puts us close to our foes. Since we’re bound to get battered, medkits add “a layer of resource management” while allowing us to evade death.
Deadcam enters Steam Early Access on June 23, 2025. Its developer plans to keep it there “for about a year,” during which the game will keep getting bigger. As it receives more content, its price will “gradually increase.”
