Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown still has a bit to go until launch, but developer Gamexcite has shared a few new details regarding its title, touching upon its approach to voice-over, the platforms it launches on, as well as whether or not it will first become available in early access.
Although it has yet to share a release date for its upcoming game, the team has confirmed that it will skip early access. When Across the Unknown releases, we’ll get our hands on the full version with all the features intended for its 1.0 version.
Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown Partial Voice-over and Potential Nintendo Switch Version
As far as platforms go, Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is currently confirmed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. If the usual suspects are your go-to choices when gaming, you will be able to try your hand at navigating the Delta Quadrant.
Interestingly, the developer has noted that it is “continuously working on expanding that range, so all of our players can enjoy our game on their preferred platform,” which could mean that a Nintendo Switch version might be considered for future release. This is, of course, not official confirmation, but one can dream about facing the Borg and managing crew members while on the go.
Furthermore, the studio also broached the topic of voice-over in Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown’s full version, noting that it “always planned on delivering some form of VO in the full release.”
Given how the title is rather text-heavy, “it would not be very feasible to have a 100% full VO, especially for an indie studio.”
The developer is “looking into finding a worthy solution,” confirming that the full version “will have partial VO” and that more information will be shared in the future.
All these, as well as a few additional topics, were covered in a recent FAQ article posted on Steam. Although Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown’s release date remains hidden behind a veil at the moment, it is, apparently, “further away than you want - but closer than you think.”
