After the successful launch of the Steam Deck, Valve has announced plans to expand its hardware offering with the Steam Machine, its very own gaming PC. If you’ve been looking to upgrade for a while now but were discouraged by how much it costs, you may want to keep an eye on its release date and price.
Described as “a powerful gaming PC in a small but mighty package,” the Steam Machine boasts a compact form that hides a device “designed for games on the big screen.” According to Valve, the Steam Machine is “six times more powerful than the Steam Deck,” which is quite impressive, given how little space it occupies.
Steam Machine PC Release Date and Price
The Steam Machine PC release date is currently set to occur at some point in early 2026. Valve hasn’t provided a firm date, and, given all the parts that go into manufacturing the devices, things could still change.
Similarly, Valve has kept quiet about the Steam Machine price so far. It’s likely safe to assume that it will cost more than the Steam Deck, but it’s difficult to say just how high that number goes before an official announcement.
- Steam Machine PC Release Date: Early 2026
- Steam Machine PC Price: To be announced
The Steam Machine uses a “discreet, semi-custom AMD GPU enabling 4K gaming at 60FPS with FSR.” It runs Steam OS and works with “all your favorite desktop and gaming accessories.” In addition, it allows installing “any software you want”, including other operating systems, just like any other PC would.
As far as its CPU goes, it uses a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 6C / 12T. The device also comes equipped with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 8GB of DDR6 RAM.
Storage-wise, we can expect two different Steam Machine models: one with a 512GB NVMe SSD, another with a 2TB NVMe SSD.
The device borrows the Steam Deck’s “lightning fast sleep and wake, and SD card slot to easily expand your storage,” while having a subtle, customizable LED Strip in the front, which can “show different system functionalities or your own light show.”
Furthermore, the Steam Machine is capable of streaming games to phones, tablets, laptops, the Steam Deck, and the freshly announced Steam Frame VR headset.
Lastly, it is also getting its own version of the Steam Deck verified program, making it easy to tell at a glance if you can run various games on the device.
That is what we currently know about the Steam Machine PC release date and price. You can learn more about Valve’s device, including details about its hardware specifications, by visiting its Steam page.
