What new class is coming to Space Marine 2 next? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is just getting started with its post-launch plans. On top of the new maps, modes, weapons, enemies, and cosmetics coming to the game after a strong late 2024 and early 2025 roadmap, it’s been confirmed at least one new Space Marine class is on its way too. What do we know about it so far?
Though the April Community Update didn’t mention anything new about the new class (confirmed back in March), modders and dataminers have dug up information which may have given us exactly what we needed to know in order to predict what new devastating class is joining the battle against the Tyranids and Chaos’ forces.
What new class is coming to Space Marine 2 next?
Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment haven’t formally announced the new Space Marine 2 class yet, as their focus is on the long-anticipated Horde Mode coming with Patch 8.
Via data mining, however, fans have accessed a number of files and data from a PTS build which have shed some light on new content coming to the game, including the Horde Mode, one new Chaos enemy, and new PvE co-op missions. More importantly, it appears to have confirmed the new class that’s on the horizon is the Techmarine, shoulder-mounted Bolter included.
Those unfamiliar with the Warhammer 40,000 universe only need to know Techmarines are engineer-like soldiers trained under the guidance of both their chapter of Marines and the Adeptus Mechanicus. Though they focus on repairing vehicles and weapons (as well as maintaining them), they’re also quite capable of inflicting immense damage on the Imperium’s many enemies.
Is Space Marine 2 getting more classes?
Though there hasn’t been talk of Space Marine 2 expanding its class roster beyond the seventh one, it’s hard to imagine Saber and Focus stopping anytime soon with the game’s free post-launch content updates, especially with Space Marine 3 barely in the early stages of development and WH40K fans quickly devouring every new update coming to this game.
This hasn’t stopped players from theorizing about more additions to the packed roster, with classes like Apothecary, Chaplain, and Librarian rising to the top of many lists. These are just guesses based on the current selection’s needs and what’s already in the game. The Chaplain, for example, would be fairly easy to implement considering there’s one in the story campaign.
Regardless, it seems there’s a long road in front of Space Marine 2, and whatever shape these content plans take, we plan to continue reporting on the latest updates.
