Publisher Hooded Horse and developer today unveiled Rogue Carrier as their newest colony management game with a roguelite twist.
Rogue Carrier puts us in control of a group of survivors who must use a massive seaborne vessel to explore an unknown world after their mothership gets blown out of orbit. Lacking supplies and unsure of what left them stranded, we must guide them as they search for answers and, hopefully, a way off the planet.
Rogue Carrier Blends Colony Management and Roguelite Elements
At its core, Rogue Carrier revolves around finding resources that “power vital production chains,” all while managing our crew’s morale and their needs. As the colony evolves, the pressure mounts and, in addition to these challenges, we’ll also have to protect our people against a variety of alien threats.
Given how space is limited, we’ll need to focus on designing production chains as efficiently as possible. That being said, failure is expected, as the planet will fight back more fiercely the longer we persist in our quest.
This is where Rogue Carrier’s roguelite meta-progression layer kicks in, enabling us to “explore multiple timelines in search of answers” while ensuring new opportunities keep each run fresh.
Naturally, the more time we spend on the planet, the more we familiarize ourselves with the dangers that await, taking this knowledge into subsequent runs, and hopefully getting closer to the answers our crew seeks.
“As a team, we haven’t worked with a publisher before, and so far our partnership with Hooded Horse has been a marvelous experience,” said Wild Fields CEO Daniel Poludyonny.
“They’re a bit of a unicorn in the industry – focused on quality and detail in both the games they publish and their marketing and sales craft, but still just down-to-earth gamers at heart. The amount of support and empathy they’ve shown us has been incredible.”
Rogue Carrier launches with five potential endings alongside fifty scenario variants. The roguelite colony management game is headed to PC and will also be available on PC Game Pass at release.
