GameWatcher wants to play a game where we find all the details on the SAW: Genesis release date, launch platforms, gameplay details, and more, so we can all revel in some online torture not caused by social media.
It’s been a long time since Lionsgate’s SAW series got the video game treatment, outside a cameo in digital horror IP petting zoo Dead by Daylight. While eyes may roll at yet another asymmetric multiplayer horror game based on a movie license coming to the market, it’s fair to say SAW isn’t the worst fit for such a model, given its gruesome tests.
And to be fair to co-developers Anshar Studios and Broken Mirror Games and publisher Bloober Team, they’ve ensured it’s not just JigSaw lethargically doling out some more mangling misguided justice. Instead, we’re heading into prequel/origins territory with a story set 100 years before Tobin Bell uttered that famous dread-inducing phrase of his.
So what is the deal with SAW: Genesis? What’s the release date? When can we first get our hands on it? What platforms will we be able to torture each other on?
SAW: Genesis Release Date
We don’t know when the SAW: Genesis release date is exactly, but we do know it will enter Early Access first sometime in the Autumn/Fall. Before that, it has a Closed Alpha Playtest you can register for at the game’s website.
SAW: Genesis Story
A century before Jigsaw, survival demanded sacrifice. Shaped by their experiences in The Great War, the Judge is dedicated to rehabilitating humanity through pain and sacrifice. Accused must work together to escape a maze of traps, while the Judge orchestrates their rehabilitation.
SAW: Genesis Gameplay
SAW: Genesis is a 3v1 multiplayer horror game in which three Accused are pressure-driven to work together to escape a potentially fatal maze of traps while a single Judge orchestrates their trials, imposing diabolical tests and forcing impossible moral choices where survival comes with a cost.
Set in the grim aftermath of World War I, SAW: Genesis lets players take part in either side of this unnerving confrontation in intense matches played on procedurally generated maps. SAW: Genesis is a game with a unique take on asymmetrical mechanics grounded in SAW logic.
Players can choose to be the Judge, whose work later inspired Jigsaw, and pull strings from behind the scenes to shape the fate of those trapped within the game.
Alternatively, players can take on the role as one of the Accused, who take their lives for granted, and must strive to escape the lethal labyrinth set by the Judge through teamwork, trust, and sacrifice.
SAW: Genesis Platforms, Pre-Orders & Prices
At present, the only platform confirmed for SAW: Genesis is PC. There’s no pre-order or price details yet, but you can wishlist the game on Steam and sign up for Alpha playtests.
