Blizzard has announced on Battle.net that bounties this weekend will yield double the usual number of goodie bags called caches in Diablo III.

Patch 2.3.0 has dropped for Diablo 3, bringing dedicated hack-and-slashers their next slice of frenzied looting. It adds a new zone, various new item and armour sets, and introduces a new set of challenges and unlockables in Season 4. Blizzard has kindly summarised most of the new goodies in an extensive blog post here. I would just like to point out that one of the new Legendary-tier items you can hunt down is a tiny kitten pet for the Witch Doctor which causes opponents to pull their punches when attacking him for fear of hurting it. That's a bit of gear I can get behind.
Heroes of the Storm has just received a big new update, and introduced amongst the usual barrage of bug fixes and UI tweaks is a brand new character. Kharazim is the badass male monk from Diablo 3, and if you happen to own a copy of Blizzard's hack-and-slash loot-athon you can grab him for free over the next three weeks. In terms of mechanics, he's a mobile melee hero who can specialise in different paths by choosing one of three traits – healing nearby heroes, doing extra damage of restoring his own mana. Seems like a character aimed more at experienced players, as he's versatile and doesn't seem to occupy a specific role.
Patch 2.3.0 for Diablo 3 is currently playable on the Public Test Realm, and it brings a whole bunch of new armour sets for hardcore looters to hunt down. Some of them are pretty crazy. Diablo's Crusader class is pretty intimidating at the best of times, but they look a whole lot worse with a skull helm on and racks of candles across their spauldrons. Very 40K.
Exactly what does Kanai's Cube do? Blizzard has posted a new Patch 2.3.0 Preview focusing on the 'Horadric Cube successor' that can "extract a Legendary power" and add it to a collection list. This is a huge boon to Nephalem who've been hoarding certain Legendary items in Diablo III because of their Legendary perk. Now we can amass them and select to 'equip' three.
The new snowy Adventure Zone coming to Diablo III with Patch 2.3 now has a trailer from Blizzard. In their Ruins of Sescheron preview blog on Battle.net they tease more of this region's past and present fate. Sescheron fell to the mighty legions of Baal, the Lord of Destruction, in his march on Mount Arreat - which didn't turn out so good for the forces of light guarding the World Stone. This new zone is found in Act III.
King Leoric, perhaps better known amongst Diablo 3 players as the Skeleton King, is the next character to be confirmed for Blizzard's MOBA Heroes of the Storm. You might remember Leoric as the boss of Diablo 3's first zone, where he attempted to fend off players by alternately hitting them with a mace and flinging smaller skeletons at them. Blizzard has introduced the happy chap in a new spotlight video, which reveals the role Leoric plays in combat.
The winds of change are blowing and Blizzard has given us all a preview to Patch 2.3.0 for Diablo III. There's quite a bit on the menu and most notably is the addition of 'Kanai’s Cube', which looks to surpass the legendary Horadric Cube. An overhaul of the crafting system is in the works too as they make it "easier and more fluid" with our crafting mats 'never wasted' as items "dynamically adjust" to our level. They're cranking it all the way to Torment X.
Blizzard's cross-IP MOBA Heroes of the Storm will get a big, new Diablo-flavoured chunk of content later this month, adding a playable version of the lovable Butcher demon, and a brand new themed battleground known as the 'Battlefield of Eternity'. Those of you who played the original Diablo will remember The Butcher as the cleaver-wielding nutcase who pursued you through the catacombs of Tristram, uttering the famously creepy line; "Ah, fresh meat!". Personally, I think he was just misunderstood.
In an effort to dispel the gossip coming out of Diablo III's taverns, Blizzard has reiterated there "are no homicidal heifers" terrorising the land. Incidentally, avoid going into the wilds between now and May 21st. It's an obvious prank and call it "udderly ridiculous" and "full of bull". Nephalim are also advised to avoid strange portals that "may or may not lead to alternate planes of existence".
The introduction of the Greater Rifts in Diablo III's Adventure mode has led to a rise in 'zero DPS' builds to nullify mobs of monsters so other players can tear through them quickly. This 'drive for efficiency' has led to issues, and Blizzard is now looking into tweaking the experience. One solution is to "disable permanent Crowd Control" to "create more interaction".
Blizzard announced that blood elf Prince Kael'thas was coming to Heroes of the Storm with some fanfare last week, and they're holding a Reddit Q&A session this week just for him. So why no love for Johanna the Crusader, guys? Diablo 3's tank-like exterminator of evil is the next hero character on their way to the cross-IP MOBA, as revealed by a video showing in-development skins and mounts set to come to the game this year.
World of Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo and other Blizzard Entertainment titles dependent on the studio's Battle.net service are now 'offline' in Crimea following the United States' trade sanctions on the region. Blizzard have been forced into switching off their services and informed affected gamers through an email. All subscriptions have been terminated, though they hope to "restore access" in the future.
There's doings afoot in Diablo III as the latest 2.2.0 Patch for the action RPG has completely ditched regular health potions, as Blizzard have replaced them with a new Bottomless Heath Potion that heals 60% life. Legendary potions remain unchanged according to the notes. This came about when the team was looking at mass loot pickups. Grab one gem and you'll grab them all in a 20 yard radius.
Log in to kill a few monsters on Diablo 3 any time this week and you'll find yourself with a very nice 100% boost to your earned XP and looted gold. Blizzard is kicking off this celebratory buff to commemorate the first-year anniversary of the game's first expansion, Reaper of Souls.
Blizzard has attempted to pre-empt the inevitable controversy regarding new features from Diablo 3's upcoming patch 2.2.0 that might begin to show up in data-mined information. Though the patch will contain a new in-game currency, timed experience boosts, and references to stash space and character slot expansions, this is all apparently designed for soon to be implemented microtransactions in Asia, and is therefore not applicable to the Western audience.
Patch 2.2.0 for Diablo 3 is on the way soon, bringing with it some more of that sweet, sweet loot. Namely three new legendary armour sets designed to compete with the game's most powerful gear. Bonuses to some existing sets have also been reworked, and Blizzard has added over 15 new legendary powers in the form of legendary gems, armor, rings, and more.
Just so you know, for every game out there you think you're pretty pretty good at, there's a hardcore super fan who'll make you look like a chubby-fingered idiot. For Diablo 3 that's Nokieka, who's achieved the frankly ridiculous feat of reaching Paragon level 1002 without dying one single time. That's nuts.
There's a demonic force at work in Diablo III greater than anything we've faced before: lag. Right now there's a "major lag" issue affecting the Diablo III servers and Blizzard are calling on gamers for help. They'd like your traceroute data, as well as your ISP and geographical location. They've given out a specific IP for us to use so we can send in our feedback to help the Blizzard engineers.
The latest update to Blizzard's Diablo III is now live in Europe, although some may need to wait a little longer as Patch 2.1.2 rolls out. What does this bring us? Ancient items for one - move over Legendary. When playing in Torment I or higher, there's now a chance to reap an Ancient item, which are "more powerful" than those silly Legendary trinkets. There's a large list of changes to fuss over.
