2K Games has confirmed you won't be able to jump straight into the action as a mandatory install pop-ups up before your descent into Rapture. This allays concerns that the installation was to take 24 minutes but apparently it should take 5 minutes and 24 seconds, if a BBFC list is to be believed.

2K Games have admitted that some texture issues "slipped by" them and that they are working hard to replicate any reported bugs found. Fans have been grumbling that some areas aren't up to the visual quality of its Xbox 360 counterpart or at least in the demo; the Big Daddy being one of them.
In an upcoming interview with PlayStation Universe, 2K Marin Programmer Jake Etgeton reveals that the PlayStation 3 version of BioShock will feature new interactive load screens and graphical enhancements due to the advantage of the Blu-ray storage space, along with the ability to install data onto the Hard Drive. "There are improvements, such as interactive load screens which takes advantage of the increased space on the Blu-ray disc," said Etgeton. "The downloadable Challenge Rooms also offer a slew of new graphical and gameplay content, albeit outside of the fictional universe."
Posted on the games official forums, community manager '2K Elizabeth' has soothed fans with promises and evidence no less that things are on track. She couldn't give a date for release but did say the pixel problem with some Big Daddy Bouncers and the weird white bar glitch has been tackled.

Ever since E3 PlayStation 3 users have been waiting for the release of BioShock, and its exclusive downloadable content. While BioShock for PS3 is now out and available, the PS3 exclusive "Challenge Rooms" have not yet been released. Publisher 2K has announced that the Challenge Rooms will be available on the PSN worldwide starting November 20th.
2K Games has announced that the PlayStation 3 exclusive add-on content for BioShock will be available for download worldwide on November 20th from the PlayStation Network. Consisting of three unique Challenge Rooms that take place outside of the main storyline, the BioShock Add-On Game Content will be available for £6.29 in the UK. Each of the three Challenge Room environments was designed specifically for the PlayStation 3 release and feature new locations, objectives and artwork not seen anywhere else in the game. Additionally, each of the new Challenge Rooms offers new Trophies that can be earned through smart thinking and resourceful playing.
Take-Two have announced a slew of big titles all part of fiscal 2009, which means that highly anticipated sequels will arrive before October 31st. Global President of 2K Christoph Hartmann told MCV that the Bioshock series has the potential to have five sequels, referring it to Star Wars, but promises that the publisher won't use the franchise as a "cash cow". "Some of the mega-franchises we talk about only lasted ten years because companies took five years to ship a game. Look at Duke Nukem. It's been a great franchise for 20 years, because it seems like it’s been in development for 20 years." Hartmann said.
Side, a studio that specialises in voice-work for videogames, has dubbed Bioshock the "golden standard" of voice acting. After working on other games such as Fable II and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the studio has nominated the under water adventure as the standard barer of voice acting in the videogame world.
