Espionage-focused Endless Legend expansion Shadows is out today

Amplitude Studios has released Shadows, the latest expansion for its gorgeous fantasy 4X Endless Legend. It introduces a brand new faction, The Forgotten, as well as a new espionage system that lets players indulge their sneaky side.

As every Endless Legend players knows, it's the new faction that you should get excited about; The Forgotten are masters of deception and subterfuge, who pack a few nasty cloaked units who can sneak attack enemy troops.

Endless Legend Shadows expansion coming 'this summer' on PC

Independent developer Amplitude Studios is preparing the new Shadows expansion for fantasy 4X Endless Legends to release this summer for PC. It "integrates a highly requested and anticipated feature" to the main game.

That feature? Espionage. Now we can add spycraft to our plans as we infiltrate, pillage and assassinate to dominance. We also see the arrival of the new 'Forgotten' faction, which is focused on spying.

Guardians expansion out today for Endless Legends, adds competitive goals and "huge super units"

Amplitude has just increased the 4X dominion of Endless Legends with the Guardians expansion releasing today. It adds powerful Guardian units, Legendary Deeds to be competitively fought over, and unique buildings.

The "huge super units" are expensive investments and can't join other armies or garrisons, but they can crush foes with ease. They're 'built' in a free city district before they rise up ready to command.

Endless Legend was one of the most beautiful games released last year, and a damned fine 4X game in its own right. I didn't quite get on with it as well as other reviewers seemed to (I found the interface a bit clunky and the combat occasionally frustrating), but I still had a lot of fun getting to know its various unique races – it has some of the best faction design I've ever seen.

If you've yet to dive into developer Amplitude's beautifully designed fantasy world, this weekend's as good a time as any to do so – Endless Legend and its rogue-like dungeon–crawler spin-off Dungeon of the Endless are both free to play on Steam this weekend.

Steam Autumn Sale surges Amplitude's Endless series over 1.2 million

Indie developer Amplitude Studios has seen their Endless series of games rocket past 1.2 million sales, as it enjoyed the top spot during Steam's Autumn Sale. Endless Legend led Black Friday sales.

The French studio was founded over two-and-a-half years ago. The co-operative Dungeon of the Endless performed as well, which is the only non-4X title in the Endless series.
