No one really knows what Valve are doing in their Washington headquarters, I mean, it’s definitely not upgrading Counter Strike: Global Offensive to the Source 2 engine, so would could they possibly be doing? A lot of people seem to forget that trying to establish a brand new platform for games is also something they could be doing. Alan Yates, Hardware Engineer at Valve, hasthat one third of the company are involved in VR.
“I was super fortunate to start at Valve right around the time Michael Abrash had begun the AR/VR research team,” Yates explains. “It was a much smaller team then than it is now, it has since grown to encompass about a third of the company, but the key individuals that solved most of the really hard technological problems and facilitated this generation of consumer headsets are still here working on the next generation.”
Marc Laidlaw is a bit of a legend in the gaming community. After all, besides being an accomplished science-fiction and horror writer, he also wrote the stories for the much acclaimed Half-Life series.
