Pillars of Eternity patched to 1.04, more retroactive fixes applied

Obsidian Entertainment has just released their 1.04 Patch for Pillars of Eternity, which among other things, will retroactively restore party movement speed, and award the 'All Stronghold Upgrades' achievement.

The 'Kill All Dragons' achievement will also work properly, as some could be killed indirectly. Shaders should now compile under DirectX 11 properly, and high resolution window-dragging is now a-okay.

Obsidian launches “patch beta testing” for Pillars of Eternity

Obsidian has launched a "patch beta testing" program for Pillars of Eternity, which will allow willing players to test out updates early before they're released to the public.

Obviously this carries a certain amount of risk; beta players might find that their saved game progress is affected by bugs and other problems.

The weirdness surrounding character stats in Pillars of Eternity has been addressed in a patch from Obsidian Entertainment. They've managed to "retroactively fix" problems to do with equiping gear.

We also lose our accidentally permanent buffs from certain items and the team has bludgeoned the Raedric's Hold crash on the head. There's also been some censorship with a less-than-politically-correct limerick.

I was actually pretty impressed by the lack of bugs I saw when reviewing Pillars of Eternity, but inevitably once the game hit full release they started crawling out of the woodwork

Luckily Obsidian is on the case. According to the developer the crowd-funded RPG’s first patch will drop this week, and should tidy up some of those issues.

Obsidian has released the second part of its documentary series The Road to Eternity, which looks at the creation and development process behind Kickstarter-funded RPG Pillars of Eternity.

Whereas the first episode covered Obsidian's financial troubles before the the initial idea for a crowd-funding campaign, this one covers the jaw-dropping success of Pillars' first few days on Kickstarter.
