You might have heard of a little event called Blizzcon 2014 over the weekend, during which many new and exciting things were revealed.
One of those things is that the company’s crossover MOBA Heroes of the Storm will be heading into closed Beta next January, complete with its latest playable heroes - the Lost Vikings, and World of Warcraft alumni Thrall and Jaina.
The Lost Vikings are a real retro reveal. They starred in the 1992 action platformer of the same name, which wasn’t actually published by Blizzard. It picked up the license to publish the Gameboy Advance adaptation later, in 2003. Thrall is the ever-present hammer wielding orc hero of WoW, while Jaina Proudmoore is the famous human mage from the same franchise.
These new characters will join a roster of heroes from across Blizzard’s various hit franchises, including Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo and more. The closed Beta will also bring two new battlegrounds and ranked play, alongside new skins and other goodies.
Blizzard is going to be sending out invitations for the closed Beta to anyone who registers their interest through Battle.net, so sign up if you want to be in with a chance of testing the game out. The Heroes of the Storm closed Beta will go live next January 15.
