'Code enthusiast' claims to have "hacked the PS3", method a secret

Apparently the untouchable PlayStation 3 was only thought to be untouchable as someone claims to have finally broken into Sony’s hard work.

The hacker says its ”very simple hardware cleverly applied” but with ”not so simple software.” It took him five weeks to break security.

”I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3,” says the coder, reports CVG.

They added that the PlayStation 3 has ”very simple hardware cleverly applied, and some not so simple software,” and will be keeping his methods of ‘hacking’ the console to himself for now. ”As far as the exploit goes, I’m not revealing it yet,” he declared.

”The theory isn’t really patchable, but they can make implementations much harder.” This is the same person who apparently hacked into the original iPhone. Sony will likely keep a very close on eye on developments, as until now the PS3 has been piracy free.
