If you fired up Destiny 2 at midnight last night, you're likely about to witness its closing moments if you've played nothing but the campaign over the last 12 hours. For those who managed to score a physical copy yesterday, they managed to wrap it up the very same day. Of course, those able to put in 12 straight hours in a single day were those who either skipped out on work for the day, or turned their hobby into their job by way of streaming; meaning not all of us will be completing Destiny 2 within the same day we pick it up.
12 hours later, we've beaten Destiny 2, aren't looking too shabby, and the RNG gods were nice to us. Had fun, can NOT wait for PC version.

But of course, that isn't the end of what Destiny 2 offers players. Lending ideas from the MMO genre, the end of the story is arguably the beginning of the main game - teaming up with allies to earn stronger loot across its Strike instances, PvP modes and, starting next week, its first Raid scenario that welcomes bigger teams of 6 to fight together against powerful bosses in a new location.
You do not have to solo D2 campaign to play it again co-op with friends later on. That's absurd. 😀 1/
