Assassinating A Crocodile Seems To Be Your Objective If This Assassin's Creed: Origins Photo Is Real
After the efforts of a yearly release schedule started to show its cracks, Ubisoft opted to take a step back with Assassin's Creed. Skipping out 2016 meant 2017 is the year for the hidden blade to reemerge - and it looks like we just got our first look at what's to come.
The Assassin's Creed franchise has seen an annual release every single year since 2009's Assassin's Creed II; if one counted the Nintendo DS game Altaïr's Chronicles, then it's seen a yearly release since the very first Assassin's Creed game in 2007. There have been 17 Assassin's Creed games, spinoffs, and expansions in the past 10 years.
Ubisoft has announced that the next Assassin's Creed game will be launched in 2017. However, the series may no longer be annualised after that, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
The Writer's Guild has announced its nominees for the Outstanding Achievement in Videogame Writing Award for the year of 2015, which included one title that was a major Kickstarter crowdfunding release.
Assassin's Creed games have somewhat fallen into an unfortunate state where the annual release has cheapened the franchise. However, new reports claim that Ubisoft may actually take a break for 2016 to try at a new game next year and that this new game may be set in Egypt.
