S.T.A.L.K.E.R series latest to avoid GameSpy server shutdowns

The post-apocalyptic survival series S.T.A.L.K.E.R is the latest to survive the GameSpy server shutdowns, with a new Steam patch moving the multiplayer servers for every incarnation of the series over to developers GSC Gameworld's own.

If you don't own the games on Steam you can manually download the patch, which affects all editions, on the series' official website.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series looked, for a moment, secured. Publisher bitComposer Entertainment have announced they acquired the license for video game adaptation, but GSC Game World says otherwise.

While bitComposer is adamant they "hold the license for PC and video games", Eugene Kuchma from GSC claims trademark filings show bitComposer doesn't own rights to make S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.
