It’s no secret that Pro Street was an abomination to the ethos of the series - you just can’t have legal Need for Speeding. So EA bring back the boys in blue.
High speed pursuits, the magic hour, open-world of the Tri-City Bay area, live-action antics and highway battles are on their way. Undercover is due this year.
One of the main things to illicit the joy of fans is the return of law as cop chases have become a hallmark adrenaline rush to the franchise. Luckily then the AI for Undercover has been tuned and tweaked to deliver ”aggressive and intelligent cops whose sole purpose is to take down the player quickly and by any means necessary.”
EA are also tooting their horn over the ‘Heroic Driving Engine’ that powers the virtual cars of our dreams, and allows the game to provide ”incredible high-performance moves at 180 miles per hour”. Whatever makes my car go vroom faster is okay by me.
The story has the player work as a deep undercover cop tasked with infiltrated the higher ranks of the illegal street races to take down a criminal syndicate - with Maggie Q as our delectable handler.
”Need for Speed Undercover puts you at the center of a big-budget Hollywood movie with all of the drama, action and dazzling chase scenes, right on your gaming console. The unique Heroic Driving Engine will give you ultimate control over the hottest cars and push you to use every ounce of skill to outrun the law and take down criminal adversaries,” said Executive Producer Bill Harrison.
Aside from collecting these crazy machines with wheels you’ll also be able to customise and wreck the heck out of them. The game is due November 18th in the US, and on the 21st for Europe.
