There was an ad leaked earlier in the night that mentioned the Kinect name, but also appeared to confirm that a 250GB slim Xbox 360 unit with built-in wi-fi. We’re now almost certain that the slim unit will be officially announced at Microsoft’s Press Conference at 6pm BST today.
There’s been a bit of information about what games we’ll be able to get once Kinect launches later this year. Kinectimals seems to be a virtual pets game, where you can train and play with 20 different cats, including a lion, cheetah and tiger
Joy Ride has been confirmed as a Kinect launch game, use your hands to hold an imaginary steering wheel and execute jumps and tricks.
Kinect Sports will feature six activities including beach volleyball, track and field, soccer, boxing and table tennis. Think Wii Sports.
Kinect Adventures will feature the river-raft game with time trial and obstacle course modes. You can get up to four players with this. This game will also have access to Facebook, allowing players to send photos and videos.
Dance Central is in development from MTV Games, and hopes to see you dancing in the living room.
There’s also been talks about a Yoga game, which includes a bit of Tai Chi as well.
We’ll have more on this soon hopefully, but Microsoft are working on some games in conjunction with LucasArts and Disney. A Star Wars game has been shown with players having to wave their arms in order to swing their Lightsaber in a battle with Darth Vader. Games featuring Disney characters are also planned.
There’s no release date or price for Kinect yet, but we are expecting Microsoft to reveal more on this at their Press Conference today. Make sure you’re here at 6pm BST to find out.
