EA is excited that we’re so scared; Visceral’s Dead Space 2 has almost hit 2 million sales since its release last week for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Last year the original horror survivor from EA ”didn’t hit expectations”, but the sequel is more than making up for it. Critics and fans have lauded it.
Dead Space 2 ”is approaching two million units sold in – double the sell through of the original Dead Space,” declared EA COO John Schappert at the investor call. The original game, while also critically acclaimed, failed to make a big sales splash.
Retailers felt this was Visceral Games and EA’s chance to prove the horror franchise has what it takes to survive. Luckily gamers find it great to be scared sh*tless. Dead Space 2 also packs team-based multiplayer - humans versus the Necromorphs.
