In an interview with Strategy Informer, Rolston mentioned how before being bought by 38 Studios, BigHugeGames was working with THQ on a number of titles, including a ”massive” single-player project.
However it appears that the publisher couldn’t afford to fully fund the project, which lead to the studio’s purchase.
”…there was a point where we were available because THQ didn’t have the money to make our vastly expensive… and it’s not just making it it’s marketing it, doing what you need to do with it,” said Rolston.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is now being published by EA, and is being developed alongside 38 Studio’s “Project Copernicus”, which is reported to be an MMO set in the same universe as Reckoning.
