Players can choose to be kindred (vampire) or stay human, and ‘permadeath’ is a possibility. It will run on a single server, and be forever set at night.
CCP want to get as close to live-action role-playing as they can with the World of Darkness, and so it’ll have many metaplots in motion both in and outside the game. Players begin as humans but can then make the choice to be kindred or to stay mortal.
Apparently there will be a very real danger that characters could suffer a ‘final death’ if too many risks are taken. A Haven can always be retreated to if heat gets too much.
A single server will play home to the MMO, much like EVE Online, and the setting will remain at night. CCP wants to explore as much of the hardcore world White Wolf put together as possible, and so nudity, gore and other ‘mature’ elements will be aimed for.
Players can lose ‘humanity points’ if they do too many outlandish things and could eventually end up of everybody’s hit list. There’s also the chance someone could be promoted to the kindred prince of the city. Dynamic events will litter the World of Darkness, promise CCP, as well as consequences for player decisions made in the MMO world.
Given CCP’s pedigree with EVE Online, can they do World of Darkness justice? The details emerged from White Wolf’s The Grand Masquerade event in New Orleans.
