There will be four gameplay modes which are basic shooter multiplayer tropes including Dukematch, Team Dukematch, Capture the Babe and Hail to the King (King of the Hill mode). All multiplayer modes can only support eight players with 4 vs. 4 teams. There will be 10 maps at launch including Dukeburger in which miniature Dukes fight among oversized props, as well as Morningwood, an Old West town, and a Vegas Casino.
Some facts about the equipment have been revealed. The Jetpack only shows up in some multiplayer maps, isn’t in single player, while the Holodukewill now cause the player to become cloaked, allowing for sneak melee kills. The Steriods allow Duke to do one hit kill punches and run faster. However, while under Steroid effect, Duke can’t shoot weapons. Shrunken Dukes can still use weapons, but only at 10% damage.
The classic Laser Trip Wire makes a return, as well as the Pistol, Shotgun, Ripper chaingun, Pipebomb, the RPG, Shrinker, Railgun, Freezer, and the Devastator. However, unlike the original game, Duke can only use 2 primary weapons at once along with pipebombs and tripbombs.
Like every shooter released since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, players gain experience kills for kills to customize their Duke. Players get bonus XP for special kills, like stealth kills with the Holoduke and even killing yourself while killing others. Special kills are only awarded once per match, however.
One of the less funny aspects involve the Capture the Babe mode. When you grab the other teams “babe”, sometimes she’ll start to freak out and struggle as you take her back to your base, so you have to give her a smack to quiet her down. Dude, not funny.
