The browser-based version of Spelunky was handled by Darius Kazumi, a Boston-based developer who specializes in HTML5.
According to Kazumi, the porting of Spelunky involved taking the original game that developed on GameMaker was ported using GameMaker HTML5. “In theory this should be a one-button process, but for a complex game like Spelunky it’s a bit harder,” he stated. Despite this, it took only 3 hours to produce.
