It'll reach the stratosphere and it's predicted to land in the middle of Kleifarvatn lake, according to University of Reykjavik students. The Icelandic Coast Guard will pick it up for them.
A live feed of the launch will be streamed online where the EVE pod will be taken up to 100,000 feet. There are three high def cameras on board to record the journey.
"On Wednesday May 9th at 12:00 GMT Earth time we will take our first steps together into space," said CCP.
"This is our way of saying thank you to you our players and we hope that this endeavor brings a smile to your face. Misappropriation of funds is something we take very seriously and this is being done on a shoestring budget. Actually, shoestrings are a key component of the space program. This is a monumental moment and should not be missed. Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were but without it we go nowhere.”
The balloon is being launched just north of CCP headquarters. Students predict it will touch down in the middle of Kleifarvatn lake where the Icelandic Coast Guard will pick it up, making it apart of today's regular search and rescue exercise.
