At the beginning of last fiscal year WOW subs were high at 12 million but fell throughout the year. Activision shares took a hit in November when 800k users disappeared from WOW.
However the long-running MMORPG seems to have stabilised its population which puts Blizzard in a "great position" as they work up to the Mists of Pandaria launch later in the year.
"So we don't provide intra-quarter updates on subscribership. What I can say is that we made a large content update towards the end of Q4, each did help us out a lot on player engagement. And we expect to see increased engagement with the launch of Mists of Pandaria," said Blizzard CEO Michael Morhaime, asked about how subs fared since April 1st.
Blizzard has another big release coming rather soon - next week actually - with Diablo III for PC.
