More aggressive PC games could appear within the next few years, Gearbox’s Steve Gibson reckons.
Speaking to Strategy Informer, the Vice-President said he wouldn’t be surprised if more ambitious projects started appearing in the calm before a new console-generation.
”I wouldn’t be surprised that you’re going to start seeing some more aggressive PC games from guys who are anticipating a console generation shift. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we see some bigger and crazier PC games within the next one - three years.”
Gearbox are currently working on (among other games) Borderlands 2, the sequel to their 2009 surprise hit, which is getting its own dedicated PC SKU a long with the console versions. Gearbox published a humorous ‘love-letter’ to PC gamers back in March detailing all of the dedicated features they want to put in Borderlands 2’s PC version.
“PC gamers communicated to us that they felt underserved,” said Gibson. “We wanted to make sure that they knew that we were thinking about them. All of the features are in the game… and I think we’re hoping to have a few more extra surprises in there as well.”
These include things like additional Nvidia Physics and drag-and-drop inventory.
Borderlands 2 is due out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 18th in the US, and September 21st in the UK & Europe.
