There were around 30,000 users logged on at the time of the final moments, and Bryan Henderson’s tap counted as the last. So, what’s inside the cube? Godhood, promises Peter Molyneux.
The teen from Edinburgh will be ascending the heavens in 22Cans’ Godus as Molyneux reveals the winner shall guide the overall landscape of the god game.
Henderson will be working alongside 22Cans to decide many fates within the game. That’s not all because he’ll also be receiving revenue from Godus every time people spend money. The 18-year-old had apparently signed up just an hour before his winning tap on the cube and so understands some may ‘hate him for it’.
”People are going to hate me for this,” Henderson told Wired.co.uk, ”but I only registered for the game… about an hour before I won the thing.” The video that played to Henderson when he cracked open the cube, which was promised as ”life-changing”, was uploaded to YouTube shortly after his private viewing.
This also reveals 22Cans’ ambitious plan for Godus where one single person has incredible power over all the other gamer gods. Henderson will be able to introduce his own rules and ‘morals’ into Godus.
He had been playing Curiosity casually, not paying anything for it, when he found a small patch and starting tapping away for nearly ten minutes; then he won. Exact details of how the teen will profit from Godus wasn’t made clear but Molyneux said ”you will accrue riches from that game, from the start to the finish of your reign.”
”I don’t think I understood that as much as I should have,” he says. ”But I think I’ve realised that it’s gonna be a bit.”
Molyneux was vague as to the actual power of influence Henderson would literally have on Godus. ”I think now and again I’ll definitely take advantage of it,” Henderson added. ”My mom is ecstatic. She’s probably more excited than I am.”
Today 22Cans unleashes the alpha for Godus to eligible Kickstarter backers via Steam. The team asks that no one posts any footage of the alpha until they’ve at least put out a few updates to address bugs and the like.
